Great list!
While not exactly a book, you might want to add King of Dragon Pass to the Heortling list. Although officially out of print, A Sharp is selling burned copies of the game. It presents background in an approachable way, and is full of scenario ideas. (I've used a KoDP illustration as the start of a HeroQuest game at Tentacles...)
