...of course, "Humakt struck him dead" could include such options as "Humakt sent a disciple to kill him"--and indeed, that disciple could have been Harsaltar himself. That is, if Harsaltar felt his duty to the god compelled him to kill himself, I could see the chroniclers remembering it as "Humakt struck him dead".

Just my speculation!
