The problem with rejecting barbarian propaganda is that you end up buying into Lunar propaganda...

If the Godlearners were still around, it'd be interesting to see their take on the Red Moon.

Here's the musings I developed for a sorcerer hold-over from the Second Age who was as near to being a Godlearner as he could get and still survive. Granted, it was based on remote viewing only and he had never had personal contact with a Lunar:

I. The Red Moon appears to operate through exploiting some of the laws of the Universe.
II. Unlike the Godlearners, who exploited laws through external manipulation of the Worlds, the Red Goddess appears to be applying a mystical approach, manipulating her own inner nature in a way that allows her to do things that would otherwise violate the order of things. III. The degree to which this manipulation is seen as a violation will vary in direct relation to the degree to which it can benefit the observer. Or to phrase in another way, a Yelm (for example) who considers the Red Goddess an abomination will not benefit in any way from the Red Moon's activities, and will thus have little reason to reconsider. A Yelm who does not consider the Red Goddess an abomination will benefit considerably from those same activities, and will thus also have little reason to reconsider. IV. The Red Goddess will therefore exist as an inherently polarizing figure unless or until the order of things changes. V. Members of cults or cultures not associated with the Lunar Empire will either be assimilated or antagonistic. Any accommodation short of assimilation will eventually amount to the same thing, unless the Empire is overthrown.

Granted, it's the cynical outsider's view of matters, but perhaps useful from a GM-perspective.
