Have you guys ever wondered what the point is with _male_ scorpion men?

The scorpion queen, like their goddess, lays eggs when she has eaten sentient creatures. The impression from the source material is that she can lay a clutch of eggs from just a single meal, but there is no role for the male scorpion folk.

Is the men in the species name just a misunderstanding? Could it be that all scorpion folk are at least potentially female, with only the dominant one actually laying eggs?
