The Malkioni tell of Oumarani the Phoenix, who was the first Flying Animal. Oumarani is one of the Eight Horizontal Animals, also called the Power Animals, and one of the Great Thirteen, the Perfect, Essential Animals created in the Third Action and dwelling in the Adept Plane. By performing the Five Actions with the Five Material Animals during the Fourth Action, Oumarani is the father of several of the 40 Ancient Animals of Danmalastan. In My Glorantha, Oumarani is the parent of the Sky Octopus, Skimmer Ray, Javelot, Archaeopteryx, and Flying Fox. Only Flying Fox is known to still exist in History, although many degenerate descendants of the others were created in the Fifth Action and still survive today.
