Yes but...it needn't be a planned thing, it could just be a part of their nature. If scorpion men have CCADC, locusts have BALADD (being a locust ADD). And locusts are good at eating. (Hell, I've not gone to parties because I had to spend the weekend weighing locust poo.)
I'll stop now as this is one of my favourite subjects (I used to work on locusts and a pathogen to control them which, incidentally, makes them stop being locusts, as it were) and I'd just go on and on even more. But - a band of locust hoppers (never seen a swarm) - has to be one of the most amazing things one can see.
