I wouldn't let any of that worry you. No actual taxonomist has said
anything here (so far as I am aware) and if they had, chances are
they'd not be a moose taxonomist. If there is any useful to be gleaned
from this discussion, it is that no-one really has a clue what is an
elk, a moose or whatever. And, there are some people on this list with
too much time on their hands.
