I agree here.
And remember, we (and Gloranthans) tend to think of it being sent.
But we can also think of it as self-inflicted, since the devotees are
merged with the deity in a way that others are not.
So it is sort of like a self-imposed vegan eating meat. Digestive
problems follow. The damage is a consequence of how things are, and
can't realy be "dodged."
