It's not my idea, though. It is strongly implied throughout "Orlanth
Is Dead" and seems to be an underlying theme among the Greater
Darkness tales. The Gods helped those who could help themselves,
which may explain the persistence of Fleshman and You are Not A Rock
teachings among the Heortlings (who is also one who found his own
way).
