The Last Castle (by Vance) is about terrans who rely on alien slaves for menial labour, and what happens when the slaves rebel. It has clearly some relationship to Wenelia as described. Northeastern Europe could be another good parallel. But Glorantha has many areas where Malkioni nobles rule over "pagan" lands, so the Rus or Teuton Knight parallel applies not only to Wenelia.
