Until it's decided what myth is being used that question can't be answered.

I think it was only one senior Ernaldan priestess who took the part of Ernalda and slept/died.

Need to know. Broyan has to play his part and lead the defence of WW. If this is happening the Volsaxi Ernaldans will be the core of the project. They have a loyalty to their High King so can't keep him in ignorance. Kallyr is a foreigner who's off roaming the countryside half the time. Useful but neither needs to know, nor has much understanding of Ernaldan magic.
