Hi there,

I saw Beowulf yesterday. The Motion Capture/CGI version from Robert Zemeckis that is not the crappy live action one from two years ago. It was pretty good. The animation's still a little jerky and phony looking, there were enough anachronisms to drive the finicky and pedantic to distraction (not that's there any of those on this list:- )) and featured the most sedate horses ever.

Other than that though it did have a decent story and was more or less faithful to the poem (if my memory serves me correctly, it's been a while). The action scenes were quite good and the battles were pretty good. (They'd would probably work better as a model for HeroQuest rather than RuneQuest). There's also enough character interaction and to keep if from being solely an action flick. The characters would serve as good role-models for Orlanthi or similar barbarian types.

Definitely worth seeing. (According to IMDB Angeline Jolie was shocked by how sexy her character looked and felt that she wouldn't want Brad and kids to see it because of that. No, seeing Mommy naked bad. Seeing Grendel bite someone's head off and chew on it for about a minute's okay though. Sigh. Definitely not for the kids though).
