The lower part is a good point, but I suspect that the western language(s) may well be like finnish and have nongendered personal pronomines. The finnish "hän" doesn't signify gender. It's one of my favorite aspects of my native tongue... language effects the way we think afterall, and in finnish at least a person is not automatically a he-person or a she-person. :)
