And, I expect, so are the Esrolians, Heortlanders, and Sartari. Fairly few RW Christians can explain the doctrinal differences between Orthodox and Roman Catholic, how they differ from Nestorians, etc. The situation should be even worse among Gloranthan theists, not one of whom has read THIS group, let alone the archives of the old Runequest and Gloranthan Digests.

They *will* know some practical differences, though: which festivals are big or not so, which are only known by initiates in a particular cult (although the initiates talk about them enough so that others know the public name), who does what differently when sacrificing, etc.

Further confusing things: your friend is an Issaries worshipper, so he might not care a whit about Imarja, except that during certain festivals he has to use his Bless Market feat to sanctify the area, and gets paid x silver or gets certain privileges in compensation.

Also, some of the differences will be subsumed by differences in nationality. I doubt that Catholicism was *identically* practiced among Irish, post-Reformation English, and French Catholics (to pick RW places about as near to each other), especially if one includes social practices with religious glossing (Irish wakes come to mind). Likewise, that he is Esrolian might matter more than that he is Issarian, when explaining differences. Unless he is a Heroquesting fool, going off on a new one like 1970s Pavis Adventurers went off on another Rubble Crawl, the social will matter far more than the religious.
