On a slightly related note, the University of Virginia has been creating
full 3-D models of Rome in iterations that cover various periods of the
city's development.
Viewed in Google Earth, the first set of models allows you to "walk" though
the ancient city streets of Rome, circa 320 AD. Although it is still in the
works, it's pretty interesting. Sadly, it gives a preview of how much work
it would be to do Pavis, in either 3D graphics or scale models. It's a lot
of work.
