What specifically don't you like? And, more importantly, how do you think it could be better? Worrying about whether something is official/going to be official/no longer official is IMO the wrong approach. A better way is to present a take on Teshnos that you think is cool and interesting and if enough people like it then the good bits get remembered and accepted.

There's no real history for Teshnos in there (or in any other published source).

Melib is visible from the mainland so I don't think the Closing would apply. As for the relationship between Melib and Teshnos, I am reminded of a observation made about Geoffrey of Tours to the effect that he stands at the head of a long strain of french historiography that says as little as possible about a nearby island.
