> Do Saints = Essences, or are both subject to veneration?

/// You do not venerate a Saint as you would worship a pagan god or heathen spirit, to beg him/it for power. You venerate the path the Saint made to better our understanding of God, be it through copying parchments, swinging a sword or steering a ship.

The Saint's Acts are all partial, limited but real Keys to getting a step closer to God. Of course, some "super-saints" as Hrestol and, yes, Arkat, did discover several steps at once, or in several directions.

And for every Order that understands a Saint's Path to God, there is another which understands it differently (read : heretics).
