/// True. You make a good point. Magical Guardians are as much a part of life in
Glorantha as, say, door codes in our countries today. Powers of concealment,
avoiding ennemy and disguise should be effective against them with a malus.
Their very presence is enough of a difficult, game-wise. It's useless to stack
the odds against the PCs if the plot doesn't recquire it. Yet.
> I'd argue that only a guardian with a specific "See through heathen lies"
rather than a generic "protect against heathens" ability would be able to help.
/// Very interesting. I think the typical western Church Guardian is some
"passive" relic. It has to be activated by the reader during ceremonies.
Being rokari, it's more focussed on heretic-smelling than on pagans. Rokari
don't care a damn about pagans. Anyway, which theist or animist would try to
sneak into a church during Reading ? (yeah, I know : arkati spies)
Concealment magic should be *more* effective against Otherworld entities because of their inflexibility compared to mortals, unless they have specific myths describing how they once saw through their enemy's disguise. /// Such a God of Vigilance (Rigsdal) or a Watching Saint.
At most, your average guardian should warn its community that "Something is
wrong", rather than specifically "There's an intruder in your midst" - let alone
"...and it's that guy over there!"
/// Yes, I fully agree on that. "Close the Doors !" says the reader. "Something
is amiss in our flock today ! I have called for the Episcope / Inquisition /
Whatever Scary to PC to scourge it !" Now the game is getting OUT of the goddam
church.
