If you really want to, go for it. But for game purposes, Elmal's runes are described in the Sartar book as Fire and Truth. There's plenty of information in the book as to what the runes can be used for.

I'd pick Fire, Movement, and whatever else you want. Truth if you want a the very honorable warrior, Disorder for a sneak, Death for a dangerous warrior, Mastery for a leader, and so on. Eternal Battle if you want him fighting against Chaos.
