You might look at genets as another inspiration for Glorantha. They're considered rather exotic now, but they used to be much more common in Europe.
According to what I've read, common genets (Genetta genetta) were also used (before cats) to control rats and mice. They're very attractive animals, rather like a long-tailed gray tabby cat with black markings, with a somewhat foxy face. However, as members of the Viverridae, they, too, tend to have a musky smell. Civets, widely used for many years as a source of musk (and still farmed for it), are also viverrids.
To add to the confusion, I once tried to get some two-striped skunk skins to make a particularly striking pair of mitts. I was told that in the fur trade, skunk (now out of fashion) is known as civet. Can't you just see the linguistic confusion some Lunar might fall into?
