A few things to keep in mind from Sartar: Kingdom of Heroes.

For the Orlanthi, a clan chief is a special type of priest . The chief is a priest of Orlanth as well as a political leader - like Orlanth, the clan chief can call upon the powers that protect the clan.

When you become chief of the clan, you become a priest of Orlanth Dar at the same time - even if previously your connection to Orlanth's leadership magic was pretty minimal. Only a very very few clans do it differently (and of that very very small number, most will be headed by an Ernalda priestess).

In Sartar, there is no tradition of Odayla being much more than a bear god (who is worshiped by hunters and those who need to appease the Lady of the Wilds). In Sylila, the bear god has much greater cultural and religious significance.
