This mirrors the Dara Happan respect and nostalgia about Nysalor and the Bright Empire.

I seem to recall that (among many other factors!) a reason for the lack of reliable knowledge about Arkat and his empire is a result of systematic destruction/plundering of his legacy by the God Learners.
