I think that, if this sort of colonization were easily possible, I think that they'd have already done it. So there must be some reason it hasn't happened yet.

This conversation has knocked loose some old memories:

In our old RQ3 game back in the mid 80s, a bunch of Orlanthi players gathered up their shattered clanfolk and moved somewhere else. Drawing inspiration from Dorasor, they decided to start a new, proper lifestyle somewhere else. In this case, they went off to the edge of the Elder Wilds. Campaigning and play in Balazar had resulted in soem seriously useful items that they decided were best put to use in setting up a colony. I seem to recall that a crucial point in their early survival was convincing (via some bs ersatz heroquest) that the local nature spirit was a crop goddess in disguise or was willing to become one (I forget which!).

I believe they ended up attracting the attentions of a lunar expedition sent with the express purpose of wiping them out... but some trolls beat them too it. But it was a fun two years of play.

Thanks for remembering Malabar the Airwalker to me. Haven't thought of him in many, many years!
