  1. give more RP to the mega-opponent
  2. have the PCs work together ; one is the point man and the others support him with augments based on their own action.
  3. break the mega-contest into several smaller ones by inserting outside events, such as the floor caving in and everybody falling underground (loved that one).

Don't forget that the winning of a group contest requires the accumulation of 5 RP from a single opponent/hero, which wasn't the case in HQ1 everyone took APs from the same pot when ganging up on a single opponent. So effectively the opponent gains multiples of the base 5 RP if the heroes don't gang together.

The other way to give the mega-opponent more RP within the rules is to give them some flunkies, each one effectively gives another 3 RP and add nice flavour to the narration.
