Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.

After reading Mongoose's Races book 1, and Cults of Glorantha for MRQ2 I have an alternative theory about what was responsible for the various catastrophes that hit the Middle Sea Empire at the end of the Second Age.

As the Inhuman king, and other high level mystics, as well as Dragons can FutureQuest, it is likely that they could forsee the consequences of the God Learners puruing their researches and rewriting myths, including potentially the Lightbringers Quest or even draconic myths. They could also see the planned creation of Zistor and would recognise this as a threat to the integrity of the glorantha.

The response was to create the entire EWF structure as a means of generating enough worship and spiritual power to partially awaken some true dragons, namely Aroka, and the Earth Dragon. Cults of Glorantha discusses Aroka as being all seas and rivers and quite able to close them off, indeed there are hints referred to that it will happen. If Earth Dragon is the land in the same way Aroka is the water, then they may also intend to partially awaken Earth Dragon so that parts of it moves around (the shattering of Jrustela and Seshnela).

As the whole EWF project is designed as a means to get power as quickly as possible, it would make sense to make it an inherently short-lived pyramid scheme, and shut the whole enterprise down quickly after it achieved it aim. Thus the Closing in 935(Aroka), and possibly the quakes in Jrustela and Seshnela(Earth Dragon) in 1049 a mere 7 years after the assasination of the Eternal Dragon Ring in 1042.

As Time is a moee fluid concept to Dragonewts and Dragons, the 7 years might have been a necessary period to pass once the action awakening was triggered.

Then the Minaryth Memory Removal and the road to Dragonkill was just the process of cleaning up the side-effects of preserving the World, and the whole idea of bringing about the Great Dragon was a lie to the human saps they used!

I would be interested to know what people think of this.

Thanks.
