"Mass" isn't a word used in the book, since it seems to me to imply something specifically Catholic/Orthodox for which more generic words are available. However, I don't particularly object to the word if it helps draw an evocative parallel in people's minds (always bearing in mind that a parallel isn't an equivalence). That Glorantha can draw such parallels with real world cultures, without being constrained by them, is one of it's strengths, IMO.
