As a biologist myself I recommend using real biology as inspiration, but remembering that Glorantha is mythology and anthropology, not natural science :) Personally when I think of the natural laws of Glorantha I go with how people experienced and thought the world worked in the classical age, and what direct empirism tells us day to day.
