Yesterday the players made it back to Fay Jee, concluding their Grand Trekk. It took 3 game sessions of 6-8 hours each to get Caselain's Trekk done, with many twists and difficulties. But it ended in triumph, with the whole Trekk coming down to Fay Jee instead of going through Joral, a major diplomatic coup for house Caroman.
Highlights of the game included the Enchanting Ritual of the Diamond of Concordia in the Solung Ashara Church. The ceremony went well and a critical allowed Ysgrin, the officiating PC, to feel Joy for an instant. Outside the church, Rollaug, the group's colanti (volcano) barbarian was set up by caladralander thugs and things got ugly. I played both events at the same time and Rollaug's players made the muffled shouts and grunts wich could be overheard in the church. It made for very lively play !
There was also a set-up of the Jhoraz delegation, still in Solung. My own daughter's female character dressed up as a street urchin and threw pebbles at Odilon Jhoraz' head, taunting him "can't even stay in the caravan nyah nyah". It made him lose control, he ran after her with his guards, she "stumbled accidently" right in front of the babeester gori barracks... and he didn't notice and started beating her. She cried a pitiful wail of despair, out came the warrioresses and blood started flying, while Korinsia (PC name) slipped away and rejoined the caravan. Nice, devious trick to make sure the disgruntled Jhoraz wouldn't rush ahead and make life difficult for the trekk.
Negociations with Greymane using the Concord Diamond went reasonably well, and the return in Fay Jee was triumphal. Everybody got many HP plus freebys for their Wealth, Caroman connection etc. score. Then the Prince called them out and said : "My children, You heroic acts have inspired me ; I thus WILL again try to submit the Fay Jee demon to my will next holy day". Before the groans of despair and incredulity subside, I added : Curtains for today ! Thanks for a great game !
So now they have in mind everything that could go wrong with the Prince's future ritual. One of the PC who knows less about Fay Jee than the others asked "what's that mean" and another answered in a dejected voice "it means the Prince's gonna die". I love player paranoia. We'll see what happens next.
