Thanks, Greg, that's more the sort of detail I was looking for.

My thoughts were nothing to do with making me more "comfortable" with the idea or not; I'm perfectly comfortable with any take on it, to be honest, so there was no "discomfort" to adjust. Maybe it's just because I'm a terribly left wing, liberal, open-minded European guy with a predominantly female gaming group, but I've never felt any discomfort with any of the issues some folks find challenging. ;) I just thought it sounded more mythical/magical if Nandan had in fact found some secret way to change gender physically, if only for a while. Sort of a brief fulfillment of wish/alleviation of being trapped in the wrong body.

I am/was primarily interested in finding out the official answer as to who Nandan was and what they did. I know My Glorantha Will Vary, but given that anything gay/lesbian/bi/transgender is a non-issue for me and my players, we'd be entirely comfortable and happy following and using whatever the official intent and backstory was regardless. Assuming there is an official backstory to Nandan beyond "unfortunate woman's soul trapped in a man's body who formed the basis of an Ernaldan subcult", of course.
