No, they are real reasons why someone who might have lived longer doesn't. Attribute that to luck, death pursuing them or whatever as you like.

I'm sure the small number of people this applies to all have explanations. From an abstanous life to a tot of whisky before bed. Maybe two of them have the same explanation but I wouldn't assume they are correct.

Maybe it's luck, maybe favour of whichever gods they follow. We know that a lot of inexplicable things happen in Glorantha so trying to work out how the world works on the basis of exceptional individuals is futile.
