Which comes perilously close to the D&D class restrictions that I mentioned before. Moreover there are many wizards that do engage in combat such as the Monks of Blood and other combat wizards. Not to mention the Wizard Knights. Even if they are not doing the cutting themselves, they are still likely to be splattered by blood from their friends and foes alike.
