OK, the Castle Coast are old school Hrestoli who have their own abridged version of the Abiding Book. Their caste system allows much greater caste mobility, either through marriage, luck, ambition, or whatever. They also expect their leaders to study wizardry, know the Abiding Book, and live by an idealistic and noble warrior code ("chivalry"). The Castle Coast lords make all sorts of remarkable claims, for example Tierre of Caskall, Lord of Rhis, claims the title of "Duke of Laurmal" and pretends to look down upon the House of Bailifes as parvenus.

The Castle Coasters primarily fight each other in elaborate horseback tourneys (as their imposing castles are far beyond their ability to besiege) that are as much ceremony as actual warfare. Many claim their skirmishes are little more than an opportunity for their soldiers and Men of All to display adherence to their noble code.
