I always have different groups pronounce it differently in my game.

It's a matter of class and station, old versus new.

Those from the Old City, raised by the Occupation survivors or their children, say Pay-viss. Rhymes with Davis. But they are a notoriously quiet bunch.

Dorasar's kin say Pah-vis.

The Nomads pronounce it even worse, more like Puh-veez. Often accompanied by spitting, at least if they're Jaldon sympathizers.
