Whilst many undead cults do have some association with Chaos -- Gark, Tien/Thanatar, Cacodemon and Vivamort (Is Vivamort still associated with Chaos much? Darkness and Undead always seemed to be more important to this cult, and surely it isn't big enough to merit three runes), Gloranthan undead need not be Chaotic

Zorak Zoran is a virulently anti-Chaos cult, yet its cultists can create undead. Incidentally what is the canonical view of Zorak Zoran's runes. In Cults of Prax the runes used to be Darkness and Death, but I think the modern view places Disorder in there somewhere?

IMG creating undead required an association with the Undead rune, or Chaos and Death or Darkness and Death. I remember a discussion in this group a year or two alone about whether the Death rune alone could be used to create undead, and the majority view was that it couldn't. Some sorcerors could create undead too,  though their magic would be more about knowing the right spells than having the right runic associations. I don't think the mainstream Malkioni churches would approve of this, but Vivamortists, Delecti's followers, the sorcerous copy of Gark written up in the Second Age, and maybe some heretical sects (Galvosti? Some Spolites? The Atroxic Church? Some Arkati even?) would know how to do this.

I can now sort-of see how refusing to observe the distinction between the quick and the dead might also come about through associating with the Disorder rune -- but would the  Disorder rune alone be enough for this?

Subject: My Second-Age Umathelan Game - Adventure Ideas?

Hi all,

I am now looking for adventure ideas. Umathings are probably quite similar to Genertelan Orlanthi; however, this being 2nd Age Pamaltela adventure seeds such as "fight Chaos" and "fight the Lunars" are out.

Obviously there is the potential of exploring the ruins left behind by the God Learners (I am aiming at the middle of the 10th century here, slightly later than the canonical 2nd Age books).

Another potential source of adventures is the fight against all kinds of non-humans: elves, dwarfs, Timinits, slarge, Uz, whatnot.

But I was also looking for smething creepier... In the absence of more 'traditional' foes such as Chaos or Sun/Moon worshippers, would Nontraya (http://glorantha.wikia.com/wiki/Nontraya) fill the role of the big baddie corrupting Umathing society? If yes, I would use undead as enemies of the PCs. Are Gloranthan undead necessarily chaotic? (I am asking this because Chaos is supposed to be less strong in 2nd Age Glorantha so I am trying to avoid using Chaos)

Thanks
Gianni
