I haven't thought through the logic of why cannibalism is unattractive. I think it is to do with trust. You cannot trust someone who might eat you.

Personally, and this is at odds with Anaxial s Roster, I think they began worshipping Cacodemon or the Devil, and in return he gave them supernatural strength, perhaps cunning and, as a cruel trick, the craving for human flesh. Very similar to Than - offering stealth, knowledge, extra strength, in reutrn for worship but with side effects.
