I was mostly thinking of people you kill yourself, not grave robbing.
/// Oh, that's kewl.

If you kill the bandits that try to rob you, do you take their stuff and sell it at market or do you leave it?
/// As you yourself say below, depends where you want to sell it, and to whom. Don't sell it close to where the ambush happened, the "bandits" might be a perfectly legitimate warband chasing dirty foreigners (you) away, with plenty of armed brothers, cousins and in-laws in the neighboring hills. As for selling it in a faraway city, who wants to buy some smelly hick stuff anyway ? Bandit are dirt poor, otherwise they wouldn't be bandits...

I guess if you sell it at market or not probably depends on if you know or think you know who they are. It might be unpopular to sell off stuff that others may recognize as belonging to family.
/// There's other issues, my favorite being "Hey, is that a blood stain on this byrnie ?" Careful to wash, clean, disentangle whatever you try to sell. Lots of work for low profit anyway.
