Of course you are right. To Tacitus' defence I might add that he never set a foot on Germanic lands and only wrote down hearsay. Anyway, I didn't mean that Tacitus left us an accurate picture of the Germanic people. All I am saying is that his view on the Germans resembles my view on the Orlanthi. If you take his "Germania" and the replace the gods with Orlanth, Ernlada and Elmal you will get a culture that - despite some oddities - would fit very well in Sartar (at least in my Glorantha).
