This series of posts makes Esvularings much more interesting to me. Kinda want to play there now. Steve  To: WorldofGlorantha_at_yahoogroups.com From: richaje_at_pbIP95Hpm0s1r7FGFicwX8DKpyoHI5mSXE3fSDuykuXgb-XZqPB2DqzPmPivbSpES0DyfgV_inI.yahoo.invalid Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2012 05:32:27 +0000

I agree with Peter. The Esvulari speak Heortling and likely call the Lightbringer Storm King who serves the Invisible God and is the main god in the region "Orlanth".

I agree completely with Peter.

Alternatively do the Esvularings have a Carmanian-style practice (only without the dualism), whereby only 'wizards' are directly involved with the Invisible God and perform essence plane magic, whereas people in other castes worship theistically whilst (perhaps) being dimly aware of an invisible god behind the visible gods, truly known only byh their wizards?

No. Esvularing priests (who are Aeolians) are wizards. Take an Orlanthi tribe, swap out the traditional tribal religious leaders and replace them with henotheist wizards (but continue calling them "priests"). That's pretty close to the Esvulari. Other cults exist of course, including traditional Orlanthi cults and small atheistic "cults" that look to God Forgot for knowledge, but those are "Esvularing cults" (even if many of their members are Esvularing).
