The Lunars make great villains. One of the reasons they make great villains is that, when it comes down to it, they are probably right, the Lunar way certainly seems more reasonable to modern sensibilities.

Some of the greatest villains of literature are really, when it comes down to it, such great villains because we know they are right. Cardinal Richelieu in the Three Musketeers, for example, is clearly far better for France than the king (who is a fool).
