As a very minor side note, back when Thunder Rebels was published that 50% children number was discussed, and I seem to recall general acceptance that this ratio was probably wrong for Heortling society (death is spread across all ages more evenly than in equivalent terrestrial societies, so without the punishing child mortality rates this is a bit high).

However that doesn't change any of the rest of the very good analysis :)
