The Barntar devotee must perform exemplary deeds for Barntar. This might include going to an enemy feuding clan and clearing a field of theirs that was salted and poisoned by Lunars. And refusing any compensation. Because that is what they must do.
This is why devotees, even of provider gods, must have other sources of income. And this is why devotees, despite their power, might not be a good thing for their family or clan.
