Foreigners are always in danger in insular societies, but not all illuminates are foreigners. Although I partly agree, that while not all illuminates are posessed of a compulsion to talk strangely, and illumination doesn't bring on stupidity or cultural insensitivity, it does break down certain psychological barriers. An illuminate might slip and accidentally say something that implies that a taboo is optional, especially when they are freshly illuminated and still coming to terms with the shift in perception. And if an illuminate wants to spread illumination, they are more likely to target a quiet and thoughtful intellectual than a loud-mouthed burke. Of course, some people are naturally distrusting of quiet and thoughtful intellectuals, as a number of revolutions in the last few centuries have demonstrated.
