If this works with your vision of Glorantha it may be that Odayla has another sacrifice in mind. Perhaps Odayla has "identified" an enemy of the clan who just happens to be a bastard who has started violating proper Odayla hunting etiquette and who just happens to be named Bear? Taking this bounder down with serve as the character's Odaylan initiation ritual though of course the character will need the assistance of the entire party to take them down.
