There's no doubt that regiments are deployed in this way. A Char-un regiment would be deployed to the Army of ****** wherever this would be and depending on the type of campaign, it would be used to garrison, as a screen for the marching army or as a raiding group, which also implies a garrison function, if an aggrssive one.

The unit would also be divided across the area specified by the army HQ as its region and, although there would be a location for the regimental HQ, the majority of the unit would be in company or half company groups. Hence perfect material for the scenario discussed and age old lunar killing expeditions that so many Glorantha players cut their teeth and dice on.
