I've always maintained (since before I wrote the Arlaten stuff) that sorcery is invisible except and unless it is actively DOING something.

So, if you have "Resist Pagan Magic" up, it is invisible until someone actively targets you with pagan magic. Even then, the effect might simply be that the pagan magic simply stops a foot from you.

If you have "Smite Unbeliver" cast on your rod of office, it doesn't glow or crackle.

Obviously, if your sorcery is "Brighten the Darkness" then there's a visible effect.
