I get what you're saying, but I have a psychological problem with it. I shouldn't have to elaborate, as it's a personal problem that I'm trying to fix, but I will so that you get the idea.

The idea with any resolution system is that it says something about the actions that are the inputs to it. I use Strength to lift a rock, and I succeed, then we describe me lifting the rock with my strength. If I fail, then we say that my strength wasn't sufficient. So there's this linkage between what was responsible for what.

Now, with augments, things are "mixed up". That is, you can't tell what part was which. If I made it by 7 and my augment for Strong Will was +4, then was my will involved or not? Well, if I'd made it by only 2, then we know that I wouldn't have been able to do it without my will. But as it stands, it looks as though I would have made it (actually a logical fallacy working there, by, again, this is about feel). So, interpreting the dice to get narration, I have this urge to discount the Will ability.

Worse, I probably only remember to include the augmenting abilities into the narration maybe half the time. Personally, I think that what's really more interesting is that they are activated in the first place - that's the cool exploration to me. So, again, I'm not going to get a lot of milage out of this anyhow.

I feel that this tangent has kinda gotten out of control. It's not a really big deal. We're talking about some personal druthers here. The system works fine as is for all the reasons cited (like David's point), and despite my feelings about it. Further, I have no solution to the problem along the lines that I suggested. So it's probably not something that needs a lot of further discussion. IMO.
