And figuring out the balance between those thoughts remains a difficult exercise.

I toyed with the idea of the magic defense being the primary one, but all mundane relevant defenses could augment, but that didn't seem to work so well because if you were particularly strong in a mundane defense the penalties were too high. (division rather than subtraction)
