Not that *I*'m aware of. If Mike can cite a specific mention of that particular rule, I'd like to see it.

The resistance to the Opening ritual is listed as "14-10w3+". That means that there is a range of values, and the narrator can make up his own value depending on circumstance, plot, etc. (and note that "the Closing doesn't always pose an active resistance"). No-where that I can find does it say that the oceans are an Otherworld, and I certainly don't remember anything about it when we were working on the book.

Once the Closing is over, there is no need for the Opening ritual (though sailors probably perform it anyway, being the superstitious lot they are...).
