Sounds good.

Page 131 - Spirit Attitude

" A spirit’s attitude determines what resistance your hero encounters when he tries to bind the spirit into a charm or fetish or commands the spirit to perform a task."

Now, since you have made this a particularly helpful spirit, you could rule it is friendly despite not being in the practice. (Resistance 14)

OR it could be Neutral, in which case the resistance is the rating of the ability being exploited.

Page 137. "Practice spirits and charms". Tells you what abilities to use:

Sadly, it also says this:

"Only friendly or neutral spirits from within the tradition can be placed into charms, not foreign spirits (even if friendly) or hostile ones."

So unless you want to make it secretly a tradition spirit, (doesn't have to be practice) then you can't do it. (Unless you want to break the rules.)

Binding a spirit outside the tradition is strictly Shaman territory, if I understand correctly.
