Possibilities

  1. The imps are demonized godlings or spirits. Pick any one of the associated spirits from Cults of Sartar, Thunder Rebels etc, transform all the magics into their sorcerous equivalents and give the creature a permanent bad mood.
  2. The mostali have gremlins and nilmergs, embodying the harmony disorder duality. Perhaps these are common underworld creatures and that other dualities are possible - life/death, truth/illusion etc.
  3. Perhaps imps are created by the Malkioni to rid themselves of impure thoughts and desires. For most Malkioni, the imps created have little duration but some wicked criminals may experience a moment of contrition and in doing so, the imp has indefinite duration. Thus an imp is a shadow caricature of the human that made it and has magics relating to the bad things the originator did before he created the imp.
